Three Takeaways from Rod Rook-Chungong
Beyond The Field Investment
Shameless plug, but one thing I always think about while creating these player development resources is will anyone put the to practice. Rod was one of the many who have. Seeing how BTF has helped Rod transition from scouting, discover player development, and be in the role over the last two years has been great. If it’s the podcast, this newsletter, the blogs, the tips and questions, the books, the conference or the courses they are there to help YOU. Plan for Atlanta
In the video we discussed the city of Atlanta, and the opportunities Rod has to truly engage and impact the city. Rod played his college ball in Atlanta, so he is familiar with the city. Familiar or not, it is always beneficial to know the city and see how you can provide value to the city you are in.
Alumni Engagement
Rod talked to me in detail about his alumni engagement plan while we were at practice, he had mentioned they have a few players who were at practice, and I saw them interact with the position group they played in college. Georgia State is a young football program, its first season was 2010, so the alumni pool is small but very recent. Here’s a LinkedIn post in regard to alumni engagement: GSU Football Alumni Engagement
I am and will always be a big proponent of engaging former athletes.
