4 Ways to Be A Successful Academic Liaison
If you want to have success in the role, use these 4.
At every stop in my player development career, I was tasked with the honor of being the academic liaison.
I enjoyed this responsibility so much because it reminded me of my time as a high school football coach where I was our program’s academic coordinator. I would receive our players transcripts, calculate their GPAs, and help them navigate where they needed to be to get recruited by colleges.
Being an academic liaison is not easy, as there is a lot of work you just do with the academic staff to ensure players are where they need to be in regard to their degree plan.
What made it better and took away some of all the weight of the responsibility was working with incredible people who worked in academics. No matter what stop I made I was fortunate to work with some great professionals and people. They all were passionate about the athletes, had great vision, and were highly regarded in their field.
To work best with them and ensure we made impact with our STUDENT-athletes while removing stress from our coaches was a 4C method I used in the role.
Those are the following:
Communicate
Consistency
Create
Celebrate
These were things I did and was able to do with our academic staff to create massive impact in the academic journeys of our students.
