FALL CAMP IS HERE!
In this newsletter I will share four tips that will help anyone who finds themselves in fall camp.
Fall camp is a very important time during the season, this is the preparation for the season. Days are long, hot, and tough.
All of the necessities of fall camp create an incubator for relationship building and player development effectiveness.
Here are four tips which will help you in the role:
Keep an updated schedule on you at all times.
The fall camp schedule changes consistently due to so many unseen circumstances that can arise. You have the most updated schedule for THAT DAY will allow you to be on top of and communicate the events for the day.
Check on the newcomers
There will many players who are new to the team and possibly new to the level of football (or insert sport here) they now find themselves in. They will not show it but the anxiety can be high in a this setting. Daily checks through long or short conversations can go a long way.
Create a system of checks
This is a good time to start checking on the things you will need during the season and school year. The three biggest checks you need to take care of during this time are the following:
Drivers license
Housing
Class schedules
Get ready for school
School is around the corner. SO BE PREPARED. Fall camp allows you a lot of time to connect with the academic staff and get all the necessary things done for day one success. This is also a great time to get on campus and connect with those who will be a part of the on campus experience for your players.

Fall Camp Memory #2
Post Practice
This can be some of the most effective times for the player development role during camp.
The HC always addresses the team with a recap of the practice, good or bad.
He then gives a message to the team. Some cultural or practical note.
These messages can be used during conversation with players throughout the day.
This is also the time other departments may address the team with some type of note needed.
Example: the athletics trainer may let the players know when treatment ends and begins for the next day.
These are also beneficial notes for the role as well.
The post practice gathering can be very beneficial to the role.100 Player Development Tips
