Five Minutes of Player Development GAME
I hope you have enjoyed the 5 Minute Friday videos about player development
This week I answered the question of how a student can get into player development while being in college.
This is a topic I love talking about because there can be more opportunities for those who are students on campus than those who have graduated.
#1 - Find out if there is a player development or athlete development professional on campus.
Check the staff directory, send emails, got through the media guide. Do what you need to do to identify the person in that role if one exists.
#2 - Be on the lookout for internship flyers, emails, or announcements
In the video I discuss how I sent an email to the Kansas Sports Management Department about looking for an intern and Lauren Hawkins responded. Not only did she crush the interview, she crushed it in the role, and even had an opportunity to lead the player development department briefly during my transition to Baylor.
#3 - Be strategic
In a podcast interview, Savannah Bailey, details how she strategically created a jogging path in the direction of the athletics department building during times when staff were in and out of the building.
There’s a lot more I shared in this video to help students get into player development while they are on campus:
The Player Development Summit
The summit will be in person and I am so excited to share more information in the coming months.
