I spoke to the Nebraska Huskers, yes, THE NEBRASKA HUSKERS!
Growing up, I remember watching Eric Crouch run all over the field scoring touchdown after touchdown.
So, when Gus Felder, Executive Director of Player Development, reached out to me with an opportunity to speak to his seniors it was a no brainer.
I spoke to the players about Choices vs Mistakes, this is a talk I gave at the Texas Tech Football Senior Retreat last year. Shameless plug, if you are looking for a speaker to engage you athletes, reach out to me. In the words of Coach Prime, “I Ain’t Hard to Find. Email me: info@btfprogram.com
In this talk I speak to students about the differences between the two and how making better choices can eliminate mistakes.
While preparing for my time to speak, I spent some time around the team at dinner and breakfast and talking to them they are very appreciative of the player development program.
Talking to Gus, he spoke about the support he has from his head coach Matt Rhule and how he’s able to develop the players because of his head coach’s commitment to taking care of his players off the field.
Savannah Bailey said at the player development conference, “The leadership of your program will determine your resources.” When she said this, I wanted to scream say that again because this statement is so TRUE. This is something I experienced in my career good and bad. From talking to Gus, he has a great leader who providing great resources.
Nebraska is really investing into player development on and off the field and we will talk more about that tomorrow when I release my IN-PERSON interview with Gus.
