Interviewing With A Coach You DO NOT Know?
Getting these two questions answered will help you greatly.
So the time is here where staff are beginning to change.
Coaches are being let go and entire support staffs will be let go as well.
Now as direct as those first two sentences were, I do understand the emotional side of these decisions made by administration. I was fired twice in my player development career.
I also in my career had two interviews with coaches I didn’t personally know. I was recently asked what to do in a situation where one is interviewing with a coach you don’t know.
So here, we go…
The two main things you need to know from this coach is:
The How
This provides the detail of the structure of the program. How does this coach do the things they do in the program? How do they see player development? How do they see this role impacting their players?
The Why
This provides the detail of the purpose of the program. Why does this coach do the things they do in the program? Why does this coach want player development in their program? Why does the coach want to impact the players in the program?
You can list a plethora of questions under these two tenets, BUT no matter what you do find out the how and why of the coach you are interviewing with or working for.
I discuss this topic in more detail in this video here:
