Why I’m Taking a Strategic Pause
Taking a Strategic Pause to Build What’s Next
For the last three years, I’ve shown up here every single week. Over 275 podcast episodes. Over 1,000 YouTube subscribers. Nearly four full days of content created for this community.
But here’s the truth: I’ve never actually taken a break.
Until now.
Why the Pause Matters
This isn’t about burnout. It’s about strategy.
What got Beyond The Field here won’t get us where we’re going. For the past three years, I’ve run on consistency—pushing out weekly content, hosting the Player Development Summit, launching the newsletter, publishing The Player Development Guide, and creating the Accelerator.
That consistency has fueled incredible growth. But the systems that carried us this far won’t sustain the business we’re building.
Taking a break allows me to:
Build stronger systems for Beyond The Field’s growth
Focus on serving athletic departments who have been reaching out
Prepare for the 2026 Player Development Summit in a new city
Explore the possibility of an in-person retreat
Get coaching and language that will sharpen my impact
Why It’s Strategic
This break isn’t a fade-out—it’s a reset.
Like Kurt Richardson says (via Maxx Crosby): More is required.
To serve athletes, coaches, and programs at the level they deserve, I need to step back from weekly publishing and step forward into deeper building. That means systems, strategy, and sustainability.
I’m also preparing to hire, to expand, and to move Beyond The Field from passion project to fully operational business. That requires space to think, plan, and build.
How You Can Stay Connected
While the podcast and YouTube will be quiet, you don’t have to miss a beat.

Closing Thought
This is not the end. It’s preparation for the next beginning.
Think of it like moving buildings—you outgrow one, and it’s time to step into something bigger. That’s what this pause represents.
When I return, I’ll be sharper, stronger, and ready to serve you and your athletes at the highest level.
Thank you for your support. Thank you for being part of this journey. The best is ahead.
